Home is Where The Family Is..My Family is in Puerto Rico💯

The perfect house for me would totally be in The Capital of Puerto Rico, which is San Juan. With the  perfect view of the beach. The home will only be two stories and a basement, with a balcony. So then everyday when I wake I can hear the sound of the rocks hitting the rocky bay. When I look outside I would seen the clear blue sea.  When I go out I want to hear the sound of music and the smell of spices and arrachera and other meats. Just thinking of this makes me hungry!

Book Review- Haunting Of Sunshine Girl

The Haunting of Sunshine Girl is a horror novel written by the bestselling author, Paige Mackenzie. I recommend this book to the people who love cliffhangers, and want to be on there edge of their seat during the book. This story is about a girl named Sunshine. Sunshine is no ordinary girl. She doesn’t dress or act like all the other kids in her school. She prefers old, vintage and baggy clothe. Over new sparkly cropped tops and skinny jeans. Shortly after she moves from sunny Austin, Texas, to rainy  Ridgemont, Washington. Though Sunshine was abandoned by her biological parents. Her and her mom have been really close. Some even crack jokes that they look alike. While Sunshine has long brown hair that is how she describes it as “caught between wavy and frizzy” and eyes are green she says her eyes are like a cats. While her mom has red hair and freckles with gray eyes.  Shortly after moving into this old house that reaks of mildew, Sunshine won’t stop considering it creepy. Only to find out her house is being haunted, but she can’t get any hard evidence. This book is hard to put down. But just like Sunshine’s mom it is hard to remember what happened. My absolute favorite quote in this book is something that Sunshine’s teacher, Victoria said, “Her soul is drawn to me,like a moth to flame.” This quote is used to help Sunshine on her quest to save Victoria’s daughter’s soul so she can move on, with the help of her protector, Nolan. Does she succeed? You can find out what happens and find this book in the Berwyn Public Library or in Target

Finding Out What Truly Happened to My Step Sister

I was twelve when I first met Emma, which is my step sister. I always questioned what happened to her arm. But I never felt right asking about it. At first I tried asking her dad to tell me what happened and he wouldn’t. So one night during summer vacation Emma and I decided to stay up really late. By the time we went to bed it was 4:00AM. We were playing twenty questions, we said no boundaries in the questions.
So without even thinking I blurted out “What happened to your arm?” She blushed but it was barely noticable due to the fact that the only light we had was my phone. Word per word she said
“My doctor broke my arm.” In my head I say “Why didn’t it just heal overtime?” Almost as if she heard me she says, “I have no clue why it didn’t heal, but after a few months of it not healing the doctors new I would never be able to use my hand.”
I kind of regret asking her. Before I can say she doesn’t have to continue she says, “Before I was born my mom told the doctors that I was a ceresean birth, but I guess the doctors forgot and gave birth to me naturally.” All this time I just thought it was a rare defect that she was born with. Before I can say that she says, “After me being born, my dad took my doctor straight to court, now I am a ten year old with a lawyer!” “My doctor asked if I wanted my arm cut off and I always said no, later on they removed two muscles from my leg and neck.” She says as she points to her scars. Apperantly she needed the muscles in her left arm or her arm would cause her pain whenever she moved. She then lifts har left arm with her right arm and says, “This is the scar I have from putting the muscles in my arm. Then afterwards I needed a couple years of therapy to help me I guess use my arm.” I asked “What do you mean by kind of using your arm?” She replied “Can you hand me a marker?” I gave her a marker she asked me if I could hold her fingers open, since she can only control her middle finger. I hold her fingers open and close them around the marker. I was so shocked, she held the marker! I guess I was so shocked that I was staring at her, I guess it was awkward for her cause then she says, “Did you really think I couldn’t use my hand?” I just nodded and yawned. I guess Emma said that to loud because I heard my mom in the hallway. Emma dived into the bottom bunk, but she was to late. My mom had caught her jumping. She tried to pretend to be asleep, but she started laughing and then I started laughing. My mom wasn’t in a good mood because she had work in the morning. My mom says in a groggy voice, “Go to sleep I’m pretty sure your aunt can here you!” After awhile of just playing games on my phone we eventually fell asleep...........
                                        THE END

Book Review- Carve The Mark- Vanessa Roth

If you liked Divergent, you will love this book titled Carve The Mark. It is the same author as the book series. The main characters are named Cyra and Akos. Cyra is the sister of brutal leader in the planet named Shotet. Everyone around the galaxy has a current gift, some can see into the future, some cannot feel pain. But Cyra’s current gift causes other people pain, and herself. Her brother only sees her as a blade in his hand. He uses her to torment his enemies. Cyra is smarter than her brother knows, she is intelligent, and quick on her feet.
Akos is a fated child meaning he has to die doing what he was born to do. Having a fate was very rare for most families. But Akos’s fate says he has to die for the Benesit family which is Cyra’s. Akos’s current gift allows him to contro the current. Meaning he can stop Cyra’s gift from hurting herself and others. He can’t feel the pain she gives.
Ryzek is the older brother of Cyra. His current gift is unknown. But he uses Cyra to his advantage, because Ryzek holds bricks on Cyra’s shoulders meaning if she does something he doesn’t like, he will tell the village something she regrets doing and she wasn’t able to control. One of my favorite quotes is on he back of the book, the quotes says, “I didn’t choose the blood in viens.” Cyra said this when she was getting to know Akos. Akos has said that brutality runs in her blood. When really Cyra can not control her brutality because with just one touch she can kill an entire army.

Outsiders book VS Poem

There are multiple similarities between the poem We Real Cool and The Outsiders. One similarity is how the stanza “We real cool”. Everybody in the Greasers sees each other as tuff, which is another word for cool almost.Another similarity is the stanza “We left school”. Sodapop dropped out of school to take care of Ponyboy. One other similarity is that in the poem one stanza say “We hit straight.” Almost all Greasers can fight but Johnny. I think this poem is very similar to the book in more ways than people think.

The Outsiders

The book and the movie have a lot more differences than similarities. For instance, one difference is that in the movie Dally called Johnny a piece of sh** when Johnny told Dally to leave Cherry alone. While in the book Dally doesn't say anything. In the book it seemed as Dallas only cared about what happened to Johnny. But if someone cared about someone else, would they call them a piece of sh**.
Another difference is in the movie Ponyboy really goes into detail on how is parents die. While in the book he just says they die in a car accident.
One of the similarities is that Ponyboy still brings up his dead parents. Another similarity is that Johnny still stabs the Soc. Cherry still tells Ponyboy that she doesn't want him to interfere with her popularity.

Three More Until Freedom

Quarter 1 is finally over!! I feel like since quarter one has ended weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I only had three falcon fouls one more, and if I got one more, that would mean a dentention. Luckily the quarter ended before I can get another. A falcon foul is something you get when you do something bad. Incase you didn’t know. My grades so far have been decent. The one thing I need to work on is asking for help when needed. One that note, one of my goals is getting better grades in math and social studies. I would love to keep the rest of my grades the way they are. My last goal is to not get a detention. Let’s just see how the rest of this school year plays out.

My Identity

I am Not What Has Happened To Me, I am What I Choose To Be -Carl June

My name is Melanie Rivera. I am a sister to seven boys and one girl. I have two homes, it may not seem like a big deal to some people, but this made me who I am. The impassioned teen I am today. Some people may think, "So what, it's just a small change in life, it's not like someone in your family died." This is something someone had actually said to me. It is some what true, but imagine you being six or seven and you go to school crying and you tell someone that your parents separated and that is what they say to you.
It was not a small change, I saw less and less of my father as the day went by. That hurt me and only me because my biological brother Christian was way to young to understand. When I would call and ask where he was living he would say at grandma's house. But it wasn't. With my parents separated they still found a way to argue. When it came to my parents arguing I hated being the brave one. I wouldn't be able to cry because that would scare Chris even more. When I go to school most students would say I have the best life ever. But if they were to walk into my shoes. They would say I am living a typical abused life.

Ten Years From Now

In ten years from now, which would mean I will be twenty three. I see myself living in Puerto Rico but traveling mostly. Specifically would live in a big house in San Juan which is the capitol. I would like to go to San Francisco to go to the college Academy of Art University. To study photography. After I completed college I will take photos of monuments and of the plants all over the world. Also take pictures for weddings and parties. When I get back to Puerto Rico I might get a husky dog and I will name it Crystal or Snowball depending on the gender.

Meeting My Step Sister

The very first time I met my moms boyfriend's daughter, Emma was on a weekend in the winter. In my head I was saying sarcastically, "Oh boy my step siblings for me." My thought was interrupted by a soft knock at the door.
I got off my bed and walked towards my door to open it, when I opened the door, I saw Jose with a girl that seemed to be around nine or ten holding what looked like a baby blanket. We stood there awkwardly staring at each other then I remembered something my mom had said earlier, "Don't stare at her left arm or neck."
I just glance at her neck and I see that she had a very long scar that went from the side of her ear to her neck. In my head I thought, "Did she get a nerve removed?"
I didn't want to look at her arm so I just broke the silence and asked "What kind of music do you like?" She quietly replied, "I kind of like Twentyone Pilots." I said "Ok, why don't you go sit on my bed and I will go get my laptop." She nodded and walked towards the bed but she was holding her arm.
She quietly sat down and I got my laptop and sat next to her. I played some random song and just listened quietly, I felt her left arm twitch and in my head I say, "So whatever happened to her  arm it's just shorter and thinner than her other arm." I asked "Do you like sports?" She said "Um, I like soccer."
All of a sudden Jose calls us for dinner then after we need to get into something comfortable,  because we had to go to bed twake up early tomorrow. After we ate dinner I walked into my room to change into some joggers then Emma asked me if I could roll up her sleeve. I said "Ok, give me your hands." Her face started to blush and I saw her eyes water. I didn't know what I did wrong so I just rolled up one of her sleeves and helped her turn on the sink and poured the soap on her hand.
When she was done I had already changed into joggers and a shirt. Emma said "Can you help me get my pajamas? I said, "Sure where are they?" She pointed to the top bunk and I just grabbed them sense the top bunk wasn't so high up. I saw that her pajamas were short sleeves. In my head I said, "I'm finally gonna see what's wrong."
Once she came out she was holding her arm again but then she let go and I saw her arm, it was small  and thin. The one thing that I didn't understand was her fingers, they were small and chubby like a baby's. Her middle finger seemed like the only finger she can control, I saw how she kept on twitching it and moving it slowly. As we were getting in bed I saw that she has three scars in total. I assumed two scars were for removing nerves which are the scar and her leg that went from her calf to her ankle. Also the one on her neck which went from the side of her ear and down her neck. The third scar was on her left arm and it looks normal but its most likely from putting the nerves in her left arm I think they would of had to cut off her left arm.
So we said good night but as I was trying to fall asleep Emma yells, "Daddy! Can you please give me Blankie" I assumed it was her pink baby blanket that she came with. Once she had her blanket she fell asleep. In my head I said, "Maybe having a step sister won't be so bad after all." Then I fell asleep.
